From the 10th floor access of Light Hall or from the MRB IV elevators move to the hallway in the middle of the building and the room is half way down the corridor. All operations for this scope remain the same. You must be a registered CISR user, make a reservation for the scope through the online calendar, be throughly trained in its operation and use. Please feel free to contact a member of the staff if you have any questions on the new location or its use.
Don't Forget To Cite Us!
Acknowledgement for Cell Imaging Shared Resource

Our funding depends upon your citing the Cell Imaging Shared Resource when you publish data obtained with equipment or services from the CISR. This would include images from the microscopes, training in the use of software, prints from the Codonics, etc. Because we are fortunate to have so much Center support, the list of grant numbers is large.

Style I. The minimum acceptable acknowledgement should read:

"Experiments/Data analysis/presentation [include what you use]" were performed in part through the use of the VUMC Cell Imaging Shared Resource.

Style II. If space permits, please append the following list of grant numbers:

"Experiments/Data analysis/presentation [include what you use]" were performed in part through the use of the VUMC Cell Imaging Shared Resource (supported by NIH grants CA68485, DK20593, DK58404, HD15052, DK59637 and EY08126).

Please let us know when you publish, and if possible, send us a reprint of the paper.

This information is essential to sustain the imaging resources that you use.

Thank You.

If you are interested in using the facility, here are some administrative as well as scientific issues to consider before you get started.

Did you know the sample's surroundings will affect the image to a great degree. For optimal quality, you would ideally like your sample to be immersed in a material with the same index of refraction as our immersion oil (1.518).
Many people prefer to add specific anti-fade reagents, such as the following, to their mounting media (often made from scratch): 1,4-diazobicyclo-(2,2,2)octane (DABCO), n-propyl gallate, p-pheylenediamine dihydrochloride, or ascorbic acid.
Vanderbilt University Medical Center is the only Magnet Hospital in Metro Nashville area.
Did you know cold depolymerizes cytoskeletal elements, so whenever possible, buffer washes, fixatives, and sample should be at room temperature or warmer to initiate fixation.
All CISR microscopes are available ONLY to those who have been trained in their use by a member of the RESOURCE STAFF.
Vanderbilt University School of Medicine ranked 15th among all medical schools in total NIH awards, and 18th in US News & World Report in 2006.
The resource staff are happy to answer questions about our services and will help you plan your experiments. If you have questions please feel free to contact any member of the resource staff or the director.

All specimens for sectioning through the EM Resource must be accompanied by an EM work requisition and should be fixed prior to submission and kept refrigerated until submitted. Click Here to start or track your requsition.
